Scholar Exchange – South Africa
One would never guess that a mere two weeks could result in the forming of good friendships and unforgettable memories!
I am so honoured to have been part of such an amazing event. To be part of such a special thing is truly fulfilling and life-changing.
The first part of the scholar exchange 2016 /2017 was from 3 -15 October.
We had to wait for a long time at the airport on the day that our guests arrived but it was worth the wait. The program consisted of visiting the Voortrekker Monument, Freedom Park, Hector Peterson Museum, Nelson Mandela House, the Lion and Rhino Park, the Cheetah Farm and many more, which made us all, both Germans and South Africans, aware of our extraordinary South African history and the fact that we are animal and nature lovers. Of course the camp at Warthog Inn was a big highlight!
We also had the honour to visit one of our partner schools in Mamelodi, the Sikhanyisele Primary School. We had a lot of fun and want to thank the principal Mr Marion Ntuli and his staff for allowing us to experience a very enjoyable day.
We had awesome trips thanks to Mrs Breytenbach and Mrs Greyling who dedicated a whole lot of time and effort to make this an unforgettable experience. The programme would not have been such a success if it were not for them.
Furthermore, we would like to thank Mr Kombrink and Mrs Brauweiler for accompanying the Scholars from Leonardo-da Vinci Gymnasium, Köln – Nippes.
We are looking forward to seeing our friends again in Cologne, Germany next year and exploring the city itself.
