Deutsch als Fremdsprache (DaF) is a compulsory subject for all learners up to Grade 12. The DaF – lessons at the DSP are based on a modern understanding of language learning, which is mainly focused on the development of communicative skills. This includes a general education component and knowledge of geography. For this reason, a variety of communication, action- and production-oriented methods are used and thus appeal to the students as a whole.
The goal is, in addition to teaching the German language to strengthen the student personality and develop their independence. The confrontation with the German culture is intended to evolve the intercultural competence of the students, thereby creating a basis to develop their own personality within their own cultural environment. At the end of Grade 9 the students have to take the DSD I exam. At the end of Grade 12 the students write the DSD II exam to achieve the level of C1. This will qualify the students to study at all universities in Germany.
