1897

Friedrich Klinkenberg-Müller, bequeaths sufficient money to build a German school and opens a trust to provide financial support to the school.

The School on the corner of Maré- and Schubart Street is completed.

1924

A new, larger school building is inaugurated on the corner of Du Toit- and Visagie Streets.

1929 – 1936

1929. The German school found its own association with its own constitution and governing body.

1936. The first hostel is established.

1968

The primary school is extended to include a secondary school until Matric.

1972

The first matric exams are written.

The Klinkenberg-Stiftung purchases a 15,5 ha piece of land in The Willows.

1975

The first shovel of ground is dug for the new school in The Willows.

1977

The new school in The Willows is officially opened.

The first Oktoberfest as fundraiser is held.

1980 – 1990

1980: The Outreach-programme commences with German lessons for learners from Mamelodi and Eersterust.

1990: The first Grade 8 class in the New Secondary School is enrolled.

1981 – 1985

1981. The first Grade R class with the financial assistance of the Ohlthaver Stiftung is established. A new hostel is made possible through a grant from Herrn Neitz.

1985. The Kindergarten is opened.

1993 – 1999

1993. DSP has its first Abitur class.

1999. Inauguration of the Media- and Computer centre.

2000 – 2004

2000. Inauguration of the BMW centre for Art, Crafts and Design.

2004. Opening of new Music Centre.

2005 – 2009

2005. Successful accreditation of the DSP with UMALUSI.

2007. First time the DSD II-exam (German Language Diploma) is written at the DSP.

2008. First time the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination is written at the DSP and country wide.

2009. The Abitur examinations after 13 years of schooling were written for the last time that year.

2011 – 2012

2011. New English-medium branch, starting with Grade R and Grade 8.

2012. The BLI-stamp (school of excellence) is awarded to the DSP.

The start of the German Crèche at the DSP.

The DSP-orchestra is invited to perform in Berlin at the World Congress of the Schools Abroad (WDA).

2015

The DSP wins 2nd place in an international competition of German schools with the theme of inclusive living and learning.

Inauguration of the Werner von Siemens Forum and BOSCH Robotics Laboratorium.

2016 – 2018

2016. The DSP wins the first prize in the international competition “Leaners building bridges“ in Berlin.

2018. The DSP once again fulfils all the requirements tob e certified as a excellent German school abroad.
