For me, lockdown means not having to wake, dress and feed my 3 and 5-year-old “hooligans” by 7am every morning. Less rushing means less stress, less arguing and more time to do something out of the ordinary. Next to completing my usual work tasks from home, I have decided to set myself a challenge: 100 burpees a day! Now, for the fitness pro’s out there this may not seem like much, but for me it is an opportunity to do something my usual full-time-working-mom-life simply didn’t manage before. The goal is to do 100 burpees for every one of the 21 days in lockdown.
Disclaimer: I have not exercised in… longer than I can remember and would rate myself as being about as fit as a Koala bear at this stage. I won’t even pretend that I managed to complete 100 on the first couple of days, but I’m getting stronger each day and am planning on making up for that later on.
The main thing here is that I have something to aim for, a tangible target to work towards and a sense of accomplishment in having completed this challenge at the end. It’s all about staying motivated during this daunting period. And let’s be honest, a little exercise never hurt anyone 😉
