Shout out to the School Community

Dear teachers, learners and parents!

What a time to be alive. Some mornings I wake up and find myself wondering if it is just a dream, only to realize that it is actually our new reality. When I was at school, many years ago, before Google and before cellphones, we often watched sci-fi movies in which the whole world was under lockdown. Who would have thought that we will experience it as well?

It is uncertain times for all of us. At the moment the school building is empty, cold and very quiet. Even though we are all at home and really miss “school”, I am sure you will agree with me, that we miss our friends and teachers and not really the building…

This is a good thing because the DSP is not a building, it is a community. It doesn’t matter where we are in the world, we are connected as a family. Thank goodness for technology because it enables us to communicate with each other, stay in touch and show that we care about each other.

To be honest with you, I can’t wait to go back to our DSP house and turn it into a home again. For now, that is not possible, but it doesn’t mean that we are not still a family.

Let’s support each other in this time, look after each other and show that we care!

Yours truly,

Helene Share (Deputy Head: English)
